What

Tables communicate with the human verbal system and should be used when your content requires the precision of numbers and text labels for your audience to identify what they are.

Where

Tables can be used on any page where you need to structure and communicate quantitative information. Always consider if a table is truly needed, if you can communicate your message with one or few effective sentences, the use of a table is unnecessary.

DO

Table header
Use table header if the table is inside paragraph text. If the table is under page header (H1), a separate table header is not necessarily needed.

Expandable table
Choose the expandable version of the table if you’re structuring content that serves a search intention e.g. finding address or finding a document.

DON'T

Use if your content is quantitative and you need to communicate the relationship of data. For this use case, use graphs that give your numbers a shape and form.

Expandable table
Optional. Expandable table will have rows collapsed in tablet and mobile.

Row colors
Mandatory, row colors will always vary from white to light grey. The header row will always be forest green to ensure legibility, as that will in mobile turn into text color.

To create the module in the CMS

This module is specific to a page, it will be created and edited via the page template.

Navigate to the page where you want to add table
Select ‘Full HTML’ as the text format and click "Table" icon (1)
Set the table properties (2)
- Rows: Add a number or rows needed
- Columns: Add a number or columns needed Headers: Choose ‘First row’
- Width: Leave empty
- Select header
- Caption: Leave empty
Click ‘ok’ and the table will appear into the body content field (3)
Add content to each row and column in the body content field by clicking your cursor into the column of your choice and typing in.
Optional: Table header (CMS: Title): Edit by writing into the text field (4)
When ready with the page, save it to display the modules.
